INVASION OF CHINA
In 1931 a rebellion in China sprang up fighting for the right to be part of japan knowing that the only way asia would be a superpower would be if all of asia was under japanese control. The rebellion was manly in northeast china where the majority of people had Japanese heritage. In 1937 the Emperor of Japan allowed Japanese soldiers to set foot and fight with the rebels against the chinese government.
With the success of many japanese victories and the conquest of most of of eastern China. Due to the Japanese forces conquering more land Japan was closer every day to Hong Kong which was under British control and was causing many problems with the United States which was a strong trading partner with china. Alliance with the AxisIn 1937 prince Chichibu was sent to normandy Germany to talk about the alliance between Germany and Japan. As Prince Chichibu said after his meeting with hitler, "Hitler is a great actor, it will be difficult to trust him but nevertheless our future is with Nazi Germany." After signing the pact Japan became the fearful power of the pacific threatening Oceania and inland asia.

Having an alliance with The axis powers of europe allowed Japan to raid and conquer islands that were poorly defended or had no defence due to the number of soldiers sent back to europe to fight Germany and Italy. After months of fighting Japan soon conquered Burma, Singapore and the Philippines in 1941. With many of the Southern pacific isle under Japans control Japan started to plan an invasion of australia securing the western pacific to themselves.
U.S Involvment
The UNited states didn't fight in world war 1 until in 1941 on december 7th when japanese air strike attacked pearl harbor which ended with the american public demanding to fight the Axis forces. After countless fighting in europe the united states turned to JApan and started to focus on its pacific campagne. The war in the pacific was a long and very strategic war one of the most recognized strategies was Island hopping where the U.S would attack and conquer one island then the next and so on. The war din't end until September 2nd, 1945 when the japanese signed the terms of surrender after the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki.
